Glencoe Marathon

On the 7th of October Morrocco Media was filming the Glencoe Marathon.  It was another amazing day in the Glen.  The sun shone all day, although Ben Nevis never revealed itself.  I managed to get lots of good footage and even made it to the top of the Devil's Staircase - after suffering from gastroenteritis all week.  The edit is being worked on at the moment.

Here are the trailers I made earlier in the year:  Stefan Morrocco Geomorphology

Hit the Ground Running - TayScreen

Morrocco Media attended a talk organised by TayScreen in Dundee on the 12th of October 2012.  The talk was presented by Linda Fraser from Hit the Ground Running and was an introduction to the media industry for entry-level people.  It was very informative, although I didn't agree with her thoughts on CV preparation - perhaps that's the difference between a scientific approach and an arts approach?

Thanks Linda for a great talk!Stefan Morrocco Geomorphology

Mark Beaumont Talk

Mark Beaumont (top UK adventurer) asked me to film the first talk of his latest tour around the UK - http://www.eden-court.co.uk/whats-on/shows/an-evening-with-mark-beaumont

Mark Beaumont talked about his cycles around the world and down the Americas in the first half of the show and then focussed on his two rowing expiditions in the second half.

The filming was done for mark's sponsors and for his own marketing purposes.

It was an enjoyable night and I definitely had the best seat on the night!  Mark is a truely inspirational individual and I hope I can work with him again in the future.  Stefan Morrocco Geomorphology

'Winter Days'

In 2013, Morrocco Media are creating Winter Days - a definitive snowsports series showcasing the stunning snowsports across Scotland, featuring and narrated by a wide range of athletes and riders from across the country.  Stefan Morrocco Geomorphology

Winter Days

The main premise of Winter Days is to showcase the Scottish snow sports scene, focusing on the riders and wider community, the amazing scenery and the broad range of events held at the main ski resorts.  Morrocco Media will capture all the events and the best action across Scotland.  The episodes will will be themed, one focusing on professionals, another on up and coming athletes, and another on amateurs.  Morrocco Media will be reactionary to conditions and free-riding days whilst filming key events such as the Coe Cup and 50/50.

Winter Days will showcase the talent, camaraderie, fun and landscapes of Scottish snow sports and really focus on the ‘Scene’ (the people) in a series of four to six 5-10 minute length episodes.  Episodes will explore why the people chose to ride in Scotland and what is great about it.  One episode will focus on the summer activities offered by the Scottish Snowsports Centres as these now help support the winter activities, thus providing a wider audiance for the series.

These riders/ athletes will provide the main narration and storyline to each episode, created in both an observational and interview style.  As well as telling their thoughts and personal experiences, the riders will be explaining the landscape and topics of wider interest than snowsports.  Interviews and scenes involving communities along the journey will further showcase the diversity of places.

Winter Days will showcase new Scottish music wherever possible and will have a soundtrack that is as evocative and diverse as the riding styles showcased.

Production

Filming during 2012/13 season with release of episodes throughout the season.  Wider interest for Winter days should come through the promotion of stay-cation within the UK and specifically the Scottish Snowports Industry.

Stefan has come up with the goods every time, despite the often-challenging (filming) conditions. The films that Stefan has produced for us are tightly edited, action packed and well presented with great music. We couldn't recommend Stefan higher and will undoubtedly be using his skills again.”

'Wild'

In 2013, Morrocco Media are creating Wild - a definitive mountain bike film showcasing the stunning wilderness riding across Scotland, featuring and narrated by the best riders in the country. Stefan Morrocco Geomorphology

Wild

The main premise of Wild is to showcase wilderness biking in Scotland, the diversity and beauty of the mountains, the characters and communities and the riding talent we have here in Scotland.  This journey will cover terrain throughout mainland Scotland as well as the Hebrides, including many areas of outstanding beauty that are far from the tourist trails.

Over 45 minutes the pseudo-road trip will visit specific wilderness destinations whilst also highlighting well-known and challenging riding landscapes. It will also touch on other uses and adventure sports in these places as wide ranging as bungee jumping to deer stalking.  The wide appeal of Wild will be helped by moments that explore out-of-the-way communities and soak up the atmosphere of the Highlands along the way.

The riding team will include downhillers, cross country and trials riders, all of whom are at the top of their chosen discipline and with the skills required for big mountain riding.  These riders will also provide the main narration and storyline to the film, created in both an observational and interview style.  As well as telling their thoughts and personal experiences, the riders will be explaining the landscape and topics of wider interest than cycling.  Interviews and scenes involving communities along the journey will further showcase the diversity of places.

Wild will showcase new Scottish music wherever possible and will have a soundtrack that is as evocative and diverse as the journey itself.

Production

Filming during 2013 for release late 2013 or early 2014.  Wider interest for Wild should come through 2014 as the media spotlight is put on Scotland during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the referendum for Independence.

Wild - latest developments

I've been doing a lot of walking around in Torridon lately, which has given me a lot of time to think about my film project - Wild - for 2013.  I have catalysed my ideas and have arranged a number of meetings to get the project going.  I can't wait to get started - it should be amazing!  Filming mountain biking in the Scottish Wilderness will be a challenge I'm looking forward to.
